Weather tools
Simple Citizen Science tools to measure wind and rainfall.

Rainfall is important in South Africa because it is our primary source of water, especially in terms of agriculture which is so vital to rural communities. This tool shows you how to make and use a homemade rain gauge constructed from household items, so that the rain gauge is low cost but scientifically robust.

Wind speed and direction are important for monitoring and predicting weather patterns and global climate. Wind speed describes how fast the air is moving past a certain point while wind direction describes the direction on a compass from which the wind is coming from. This tool shows you how to make an instrument for measuring wind speed and direction.
